John and Yoko Amsterdam Bed-In
Posted: March 21st, 2010 | Author: admin | Filed under: music | Tags: amsterdam bed-in, john lennon, yoko ono | No Comments »Yesterday marked John Lennon and Yoko Ono’s 41st wedding anniversary. They married on March 29, 1969 and spent their honeymoon at the Amsterdam Hilton Hotel for one week performing a Bed-In, their non-violent way of protesting the Vietnam war and promoting peace. From March 25-March 31 1969, the couple allowed the press to document them everyday from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. The media recorded their every move assuming that the radical lovers would have sex on camera. Instead, they sat in their presidential suite, fully clothed in pajamas promoting peace.
My favorite photograph from the bed-in
Lyrics: “Drove from Paris to the Amsterdam Hilton / Talking in our bed for a week / The news people said / ‘Hey, what you doin’ in bed?’/ I said, ‘We’re only tryin’ to get us some peace!’”
The real reason why I wrote this post. An excuse to embed this song. I LOVE IT.
