Burger Meester is not only unbelievably delicious but available at three different locations throughout the city and easy on the wallet (a feat here in Amsterdam). You can order a regular sized burger or a ‘mini’ for half the price, and the menu ranges from Lamb to Tuna and Pumpkin patties.
Having sampled the ‘Mini Trio’ for €10.50, I can confidently recommend the FetaBurger, Meester Biefburger and a PompoenBurger (pumpkin). Or if you’re opting for a healthy route, try their “Burger as a Main” where the burger patty can be served with a salad and no bun for €2 extra.

It’s restaurant week in Amsterdam! This city doesn’t seem to have a reputation of having good affordable food but this week, several participating high class restaurants are offering three-course dinners for 25 euros and three-course lunches for 20 euros. The deal goes on from now until Sunday March 7. Most restaurants are filling up quickly so make reservations ASAP. Here is a list of participating restaurants.
Jamie Oliver’s Restaurant Fifteen is one of the many participating restaurants this week.
The Dutch are known for having incredible apple pie and I am convinced that I have found the best apple pie in Amsterdam. Cafe Winkel serves real Dutch appeltaart everyday of the week in the Jordaan neighborhood. It is so popular that there is usually a line out the door on the weekends all year round. I have been in Amsterdam for only 2 months now and I have probably been there about 8 times. It is that scrumptious. Make sure to get slagroom (whipped cream) and a coffee or mint tea with it. I haven’t found an official website but they are located on Noordermarkt 43.
It can be tough trying to find good affordable food in Amsterdam. But good affordable Mexican food? Yesssssssssssssssss. I had a feast at The Taco Shop last week in De Pijp. Tacos and Burritos range from 3 to 8 Euros and located at Tolstraat 200, 1074 VN Amsterdam.
Cute little store front with seating outside.
Got the smothered chicken burrito. Not too shab for European-Mex food.
