The Cove

If you missed The Cove during Amsterdam’s International Documentary Film Festival, I highly recommend going to see it. It ended up winning the Audience Award at IDFA and also won the Audience Award at The Sundance Film Festival. This is a  feature documentary about a small fishing village in Japan where they secretly slaughter thousands of dolphins a year inside of a cove that no one has access to. The filmmakers had to go on several dangerous secret missions to film the horrific events occurring in the cove.  The film is currently playing in several cinemas in Amsterdam including Filmtheater Kriterion, Het Ketelhuis, and Filmtheater Hilversum.

International Documentary Film Festival

My favorite festival is back in Amsterdam! The International Documentary Film Festival is the largest documentary festival in the world and has been held annually in Amsterdam since 1988. This years festival will be held from November 19-29, 2009 and will play over 300 films. Here some films I’m looking forward to seeing.
