The festival opens with a screening of Takahashi Banmei’s ‘Zen‘, a fascinating look into the life and times of 13th-century monk Dogen, founder of the Soto sect in Zen Buddhism. Other highlights include Rob Epstein’s acclaimed biopic of Allen Ginsberg ‘Howl‘ and John J. Healey’s documentary ‘The Practice of The Wild‘, which traces the career of Buddhist poet and environmentalist Gary Snyder.  Whether you are a devout monk, a film buff or merely an intrigued onlooker, the scheduled films are diverse and interesting enough to keep everyone happy and at peace. Feel the Zen.

Avatar is badass, Tuschinski is badass. It’s a win win situation.

Pathé Tuschinski is an Art Deco movie theater built in 1921 by Abraham Icek Tuschinski. The architecture and interior design is amazing. It feels like something out of The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari.

If you haven’t heard of James Cameron’s latest flick you have probably been in a cave but here’s the trailer.

Avatar 3D is playing in several cinemas around town but I highly suggest you go and watch it at Tuschinski! The theatre has been selling out so I suggest ordering your tickets online.
