Was this photograph taken decades ago in a pre-global warming era where people in Amsterdam could glide around the canals all winter long? Actually it was taken two days ago on Keizersgracht by William Bosveld. Amsterdam’s canals have frozen over for the first time in over a decade! Boats are banned from the frozen areas so people can enjoy the natural ice skating rinks. How nice!

It has been snowing everyday for almost a week in Amsterdam! I’m still a stupid Texan sliding around in my cowboy boots and falling over on my bike but I love it. I’ll take snow over rain any day.
